How does one sort out losers and trolls?

I run 2 separate trading groups and I'm amalgamating them into an advertised entity to try to attract other successful traders, especially those who want to automate their strategy as I have partnerships with seasoned programmers.

Have you talked to @Baron about becoming a sponsor here at elitetrader?

I thought this question deserved its own thread.

I think it comes down to common sense. Ask yourself the following questions.

Why is the poster posting. I know it's impossible to get into someone else's mind just like it's impossible to know why someone is trading, but you can kind of get a feel from the post. Might be a good time to ask yourself the same question.

Does the post have any value? Can you learn anything from the poster?

Does the poster answer questions.

If a poster sets off your BS meter, give other posters the benefit of the doubt, they can probably spot a phony also.
Good Morning deaddog,

Great thread.

I am VERY cautious when I give someone trading advice because I am not making money yet trading. I know how it feels to put in the wrong direction.

So before I respond to trading advice. I always state the following:

Note: I am NOT making consistent money as a day trader. Please take my advice as my opinion only from my experience.

I wish @Baron can create a signature option so I do not have to repeatedly type this over and over.

Not at this point no - I do not plan on advertising and soliciting here, just giving my answer to lazy element. Also from a business standpoint most ET people are American's who I can't open accounts for. A non US person opening a prop-like firm in the US is really expensive and insanely hard to partner with prop firms in order to access additional leverage and top rated clearing firms.

He has his way of trading and you have yours. Why are you so emotional about it?
I think that Padutrader has some relevant personal experiences he wishes to share about his journey.

"trading does not require much hands on..... unless it is scalping."

Imagine giving this advice to any new trader. It's wrong. He passed it off as advice. Then he changed his mind and then said it's just his opinion. Then he stated it again phrasing that this is true. I'm sure he has good experience and has good advice but this isn't it. I would never advise a new trader to not be hands on. If you don't treat trading as a profession then sure it could take 13 years to be profitable like Padu.

Traders using automation OR trading only certain hours can post messages during market hours. Don't assume everyone is constantly sitting around glued to the screen.

In my experience this is not the norm but what you say can be true. Could you tell me which ET'rs constantly post during market hours who are profitable algo traders for reference?

Anybody that insist/persist on insulting others just ain't worth bothering with.

If you agree with them...they will leave you alone.

Yet, if you disagree with them or share a difference of opinion...they will go out of their way to try to silence you. If that doesn't work, they will then try the "cheerleader" or "school yard bully" tactic via trying to encourage others to silence you too.

Yet, the name calling and personal attacks is an easy identifier about whom they are and they most likely behave the same elsewhere online.

Simply, trolls / losers essentially identify themselves via their own behaviour.

this is the irony about sharing experiences.

not many can appreciate the experiences of others.

if you have never gone without a meal then how can you know what a hungry man is feeling.

we may think we know........but we cannot truly appreciate the horrors or joys of somebody else's experience

Technically I fit that criteria.

As do probably all the folks here who write algorithms to do their trading for them like I know you do. Obviously @BlacknBlue doesn't have any experience in that segment of the trading world. Which is no big deal, if he wasn't so insistint on telling all the folks who do live and work in that world that they don't exist and if they're not exactly like him they don't know what they're talking about. At that point you wonder why the guy bothers at all. He obviously knows better than even the professionals here and doesn't appear to be willing to provide anything useful himself, so what is he hoping to achieve here on ET except, going back to the OP, providing a demonstration of trolling to all of us?
