Tampa said...
1. "They are little boys who never grew up."
2. "With very few exceptions, the so called champions you adore are pompous, self-centered, ego maniacs. Pathetic human beings with a grossly exaggerated sense of self-worth."
3. "The only thing they have to teach us is how not to live oneâs life."
Now Tampa...
Are you a little boy that never grew up since you were a starter on your athletic teams?
If you have grown up...then your above statement is false
Most of the world's charitable foundations are funded by athletes and by those that had played sports at one time or another in their life...and some of them are manage by former champion athletes.
Thus, "most" have a sense of self-worth or else they wouldn't be involve in such charitable organizations, events, foundations to raise future leaders and so on.
I have a niece that's a straight A student in college...she's poor and being financially supported by what you consider to be "exceptions" when in reality...such help is the norm.
Most athletes give back in a positive way...few don't. Not the other way around.
Thus...your second statement is therefore false
As for your third statement I posted above...that's obviously an emotional statement with no merits...no need for me to dig into it a little deeper
Every high school teams, junior national teams I've played on...had a few exceptions that were bad characters.
Because of such few...it would be a little silly for me to assume "all" or a "majority" were the same.
To do so...would include you also
Or have you not figure that last one with all your statements.
Simply...all those comments about the ills of athletes and sport and what it produces...doesn't that apply to you also?
If not...why not? You were a starting center....right?
I'm done with this thread because I no longer can think about any more counter-debates.
Your more than welcome to have the last word.
As Nike saids...just do it.
