How do you read the NEWS?

Octopod, I should qualify my statement. I day trade futures, if I traded stocks, I would not hold into earnings announcements. For a portfolio of stock holdings, I would parse financial statements and listen to and interpret conference calls.

I now read news before I start trading on FX. I am bilingual so I read newspapers in both languages to get some ideas of current sentiment to certain currencies, and when I look at the chart during European session and my indicators confirm what news articles/and or technical analysts say, I get more confidence. I think markets are driven by the overall market sentiment(psychology) so I need to hear what markets are saying before I start trading. I often google news to certain currencies (as its faster).

It's all about how a market reacts to the news, the news itself being usually not that important, just basically whether it's good news or bad news. Stay tuned.

How do you keep track of breaking news for your portfolio or watchlists?

Google, through your broker, some app... this forum?

read the news, find which one is clearly bought to push to act in the certain way. Especially when you see a lot of such news on the regular basis, maybe it worth considering playing opposite direction
