Just wondering what kinds of orders folks are using these days for NYSE listed stocks? I've noticed the specialist freezing the book a lot and not filling my orders...
Say for example you want to buy XYZ at 25 and there are 15,000 offered there - you put out a limit order to buy 2000 shares, the specialist freezes the book, prints a couple big blocks but you don't get your shares. Does this happen to anyone else?
Anyone using market orders? What in your opinion is the best way to get filled on listed stocks these days (limit, market, etc)?
Thanks,

P.S. It seems like whenever action comes into a stock NX is turned off immediately....
We never use NX (a Specialists "ploy" at times)...we simply place the order above the offering price and by doing so, we can be filled on the next print most of the time...or we get price improvement. Larger size helps get better fills as well.
