How do you get a job as a Trader with a bank or investment firm?

I know, when I went to Canada to perform a consulting contract for one of the major Database firms, the customs officers met with me in their offices and were just as blunt as those questions that I asked. So, what are your intentions?

I think you may have missed the point of my post. I was simply asking for advice on getting a job with a bank or investment firm. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I wouldn't think the process would differ much between Canada and the US.
