How do you distinguish between the belief in God and the occult?

Far from it. Accepting reality is more unfettered and liberating than bearing the ongoing weight of an imaginary construct that wobbles whenever it bumps into that reality.

I think that the tough thing for atheists to express is the difference between belief in religion and belief in God. If Christianity as we know it today is wrong, does that mean that god doesn't exist? No. It simply means that God as defined in the "Holy Trinity" doctrine does not exist.

The vast majority of people believe in God, even if they don't subscribe to a particular faith. The overall human need for a higher power or creator is undeniable across the globe.
