how do i set up 2nd monitor?

I plugged it in, and turned my computer on. windows actually booted up on the new monitor, but then switched over to the old one, and now its just black.

I went to display settings, but the 2nd monitor isnt showing up there..

Did you reinstall the driver? Reseat the card?

What video card? Some video cards with both DVI and VGA ports are not really "dualheads".. but rather accommodate "either".

Laptop or Desktop? Laptops usually have a "Function" key that needs to be turned on to activate the 2nd screen. "Fn-F??".

Desktop - probably need to update the video card driver. hope this helps...
