How do I do this, show a picture ?

Dunno why my last post resulted in so much real estate devoted to the chart I included. Maybe file size ? The chart comes from my documents and is almost 200 kb in file size. I will try this again with same chart ("1 - month") but reduced to half the file size.

Ah HA ! That was the trick. Reduced the file size to 100 kb.

Hmmmm..... Must be something in the code that would have to be modified to put additional stock chart files on the same post.

I did experiment by on my computer having multiple stock charts on WORD which was not difficult. But seeing 4 charts on one WORD page made them ok for readability, except the plots themselves lost most of their color. In fact, I did not move forward with the project to post the WORD file on to Elite Trader. I didn't think it would appear too well.

But I suspect I was on the right track ? Put my multiple charts on some format on my computer with them looking excellent and save it as a file. Then attach the file to the post. The trick is finding the right format to use on my computer to place the charts. Anyone with a suggestion ?

I had to play around a bit before I found success in posting a chart. Here are the steps I found to work:

1. Select Post-a-Reply or Quote to start a new message.

2. Select the Browse button at the bottom of the page and attach an image file from your computer.

3. I was required to type something in the message text box at this point or I got an error message when I hit Submit Reply. After typing something, select Submit Reply.

4. Right click on the red-colored image link on the lower left side of the new message and choose Copy Link Location to copy its URL address.

5. Left click on Edit/Delete on the lower right side to re-edit the message. Hit a couple of returns to add line spaces below the text you placed in the box earlier. Paste the link (control + v).

6. Type directly in front of the address that was pasted in, with no spaces after the right bracket.

7. Type directly after the URL, with no spaces before it.

8. Hit the Save Changes button. Your message should appear with the image located below the text that you wrote in the box.

A common problem with inserted charts is that they end up being too wide for the page. This messes up the text so that words run way past the right side of the screen. I edited my images in Adobe Photoshop Elements to be 3-4 inches wide and 300 pixels per inch.

Another trader above said he reduced his image file to a size of 100 kb and that did the trick. I downloaded his file and Photoshop said it was 6 in x 4 in and 300 pixels per inch, which is similar to the sizes of my files.

ET mods: please let us know if there is an easier way to post images from our computers without going through 3rd party websites.

I noticed your charts lack crispness or sharpness.

I had problems initially when I started posting on ET last summer with my charts for Crispness and sizing on to an ET page.

The starter of the thread Charts of Note gave me good advice which was use .png extension, not .jpg. This indeed gave me better crispness. However, I had to take one more step to make the chart fit an ET page: I had to reduce the size of the image to be within a range that worked for me, anywhere from ....

from 875 x 492 to 950 x 534 range that worked. (This typically increases the file size.)

Here is the post that started my conversation with the thread starter "darkhorse" that led me into using .png extension so I quit stinking up his thread. Quite easy. (Our conversation was separated by some posts in between ours.)

On the last post with multiple charts and images posted, something I could never do before but having hung around ET long enough, I finally put it all together.

The first two images--the charts--are copied from another thread. It was done by going to that thread, finding the post with the images wanted, clicking QUOTE in the lower right corner of that original post, and when the template comes up that includes the quote it will include the code for the image. COPY IT ! Paste it into the new post where it is desired.

The second two images--photos of surfing--came from my personal computer where they were stored (originally came from the internet somewhere with location now forgotten). I had to post the first surfing picture to an ET post that would be just a temporary post. I would then click QUOTE on that temporary post and follow the procedure described in #1 above. I repeated this process to get the next surfing image on to the desired post. Finally, I deleted the "temporary" posts where I originally posted the surfing images.
