How do full-time traders handle awkward situations when they reveal they trade for a living?

Most lose, but some traders just pay there bills and get by like everyone else who has a Just Over Broke!

Then there are the people who just don't understand what it is I'm doing and their questions can be tiring.

Some would argue that soldiers do much more bad in the world than good. What about advertising people? "Yeah, I'm designing another ad for Philip Morris that is targeted at 20 year olds and after than I'm doing one for Coca-Cola to sell kids addictive sugar water that will destroy their health". Yet these people are rarely ashamed of their profession.
I do respect most farmers, supermarket clerks, garbage collectors and janitors though as what they do is very much needed.

most people have lost money in the stock market. so they will tend to assume that anyone claiming to be trading for a living is a unemployed loser, a liar and a fraud. they will not tell you to your face, they will just change the subject. without a ferrari or something else to show you will always be a loser and a weirdo to them.

I was joking about the fear thing. Bonecrusher is a name I acquired as a boxer in college. I was named after a professional boxer called "BONECRUSHER SMITH".
 
I stopped long ago telling people what I do for a living, none there business and only sets me up for more questions I won't answer like will you teach me for free or how about loaning me money or trade for them. I just tell them I am a programmer which I do to maintain automation, I use to tell them I worked for "Jerry's Kids" and they assume I worked at 7-11 and pat me on the back saying things will get better for me, LOL, if they only knew, LOL.

Just yesterday some guy asked me to buy his failing Yogurt business that is in a stripe mall, very high rent and locked in for five years. I said I was very interested in the equipment and pay him 40 cents on dollar which I think is good deal as when he goes bankrupt he won't make that. He got like major angry I won't buy the whole business, to get him out from under legal, well that is just tough. When you just look at people overall, they are fat, yogurt is a harder sell than a juicy burger with bacon, chessy fries topped off with ice cream. Instead of a area for people to sit, Best is drive up only way to go. Make it all from scratch to make it taste better but saves money. But selling yogurt you have to put it in cheaper rent area and flood area with advertisements and coupons, having one of those ad guys on the curb for several months waving his arms. Got to get people hooked on it. And *Lite* Yogurt is hugely less calories than regular yogurt.
