How did you get capital?

Marketsurfer likes to talk in absolutes like he knows the one true truth in the world. Here is the quote I was referring to:

He just assumes this to be true when it is obviously not. Therefore, he is either ignorant or stupid. Since many people besides me have brought to his attention that individuals have the ability to make fortunes in the market without trading OPM, I believe he is just stupid.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you got capital from other business ventures and transformed that into your stake, then that means you were not trading OPM. According to Marketsurfer, you "WILL NEVER EVER MAKE" anything of yourself as a trader, at least not in a "comfortable" way. Complete and utter bullsh*t.

You are right I don't trade opm, the way I read MS post is one needs to get access to capital one way or another, (trading OPM beeing probably one of the less risky ones if not the the easiest).
A few posters here, including myself are fans of leverage it seems, looking for big numbers, just don't forget the use of leverage increases the risk of ruin, but I suspect most people who make more than a few bucks in the markets and use leverage keep some assets on the side in case their account blows up, which is definetely easier said than done when one is beginning.
Again I think borrowing is important, difficult to ever get ahead just saving from one's salary, which doesn't apply only to trading - and fwiw until I was fairly confortable, I was definetely invested all in in my company, than later couple of companies, with significant short term debt. Quite stressful but luckily it paid off, although nowhere near what i'm still dreaming of.
