How about a half E-mini contract?

Quote from lindq:

Precisely the kind of response I expected on this site.

One can trade an account well into six figures as I do, and still want more flexibility in position sizing with the advantages that a futures contract offers.

well into the six figures 100.010 oh shitthat's funny LOL :D

Flexibility? Can you imagine how volatile an Emini-mini contract would be?

Huh? why would it be more volatile than the current contract?

It would offer more flexibility, which would be great for anyone with an account under $10MM.

I used to trade for a CTA that managed over $100MM, but we had it all in seperately managed accounts. The smallest accounts we could take was $1.5MM any smaller, so "mini-mini" or Micro futures could benefit even "medium size" accounts/traders/managers.

Can anyone tell me why SP hasnt gone to globex yet? The open outcry fills are horrible if sent as market unlike ES.

OK, well give me a reasonable scenario with your $1.5MM account where an emini-mini contract would be preferable to an ES contract.

Just trade the SPY until you are comfortable with 1 ES or it trades down to 700 again and it will only be $35k per contract.

With what broker would one trade the SPY, what kind of monies would this take..

U know most the futures contracts are really too big to be ideal for most retail accounts.

I was told by a retail broker that his firms average new account was about 7k. jeez.... With 7k probably the best bet is to take a flier on one or a few decent probability trades and see what happens.. Just too short a chip stack to trade effectively in my opinion.

Of course brokers naturally want such customers to use tight stops so they get as much juice from the account for as long as they can.

E-mini futures are a great instrument, but the problem is that a single contract is creating exposure to roughly 50K of the S&P.

The problem? Lack of flexbility in position sizing, scaling in and out, risk control, etc.

I have no doubt that this is one reason why leveraged ETFs like SSO are now trading 10s of millions of shares a day.

I've suggested to the CME that they create a half-Emin (mini/mini?) to provide more flexibility for independent traders and smaller firms.

If you agree, then drop a line to the CME suggesting that they look into it.
this is SPY vs SP500 cash as you can see they track each other well as they should. So if you long 1 Emini, you can short 25K of SPY and get a 1/2 exposure.

What kind of a total loser must one be to call a site a "shit hole", yet post 6000 times on it?

It's hasn't always been a shit hole genius.

But allow me to refer your deep and intellectual question to someone who more or less shares my opinion and has over 7000 posts. He's much more qualified than I to answer.

...Lets face it.

A large number of people that actually TRADE for a living have left this website. ... I simply offered two suggestions (that were directed at Baron and no one else) that I believe were constructive and could make this website a more positive experience for current members, as well as future members...
I'm obviously not the only one that sees a need to "fix" some of the "crap" that has been plaguing and escalating on this website for some time.

People have told me that there is NO WAY that Baron will ever change the business model of ET because it is too profitable in its current form . . . even with all of the aliases and racism, pissing-matches, and assorted "cut and paste" clowns that offer no substantive posts whatsoever.

I thought that they were wrong in assuming that. After seeing Baron's recent response to my ( and their ) suggestions, I can see that THEY were clearly right in their assessment...
