And you wanted to disagree with the polls but surely did not know they were wrong, at least not to what degree. We all knew polls are missing something, but what and to what degree was everyone's guess.

The pollsters knew they were lying. Their methodology from start to finish was horribly flawed and biased. Check out the reuters methodology if you like. They publish it.
