New York City has some of the most stringent and restrictive handgun laws in the nation. Nothing short of a national ban on handguns would make a dent in the illegal use of handguns.(I do not advocate that) And such a law might take 100 years to reduce handguns as there are already more than 100 million handguns in circulation in the USA. Let's face it. We are a very violent society

People are offing each other all the time. This one is just much more sensationalist. And this guy wasn't gay. A gay guy would have made the attack much more personal and interactive, like smashing his victim's head in repeatedly with a hammer.

More gun control is unlikely in virtually all of the rest of the country. Gun control has proven to be the third rail of politics. Democrats blame it for costing them the congress in 1994 and are unlikely to make that mistake again.

Ironically, the more likely an Obama reelection becomes, the more people will stockpile weapons and ammo.
