If Flynn passed on information of imminent sanctions then that is borderline treason. Pretty illegal in most peoples' book.

Maybe he thought Flynn couldn't be part of the team going forward. Actually the sanctions were already in place. Flynn had a conversation (according to the media) where the Russians were asking what could be done to lift the sanctions. Flynn basically answered that the answer to that would be up to the incoming administration while outlining the current status and history of the existing sanctions.

He misinformed Pence and that is why Flynn is gone.

In terms of what was discussed in the call I would urge you to read the summaries in the press. It does not appear that Flynn discussed anything Obama was proposing in regards to sanctions with the Russians before they were publicly announced on December 29th.
