Because he can and it doesn't negatively affect his daytrading. Why wouldn't he do something that can only be a value add to his bank account? It's common sense.

it is very, very hard to teach someone how to do something at a top level. or else all kids would be geniuses or great athletes, etc. and there would be many more billionaires out there.
key is to have a chat room for $100 a month and they pay some moron $1000 a month to deal with the 50 morons in the room each month. you show up a little bit, as you are too busy trading and making bank. repeat.

My mentoring deal was similar to this.
I always reimbursed the learner for any losses he incurred while trading.
As far as the split on profits all I asked was that he spend 10% of profits on helping solve local problems.
Since trading to make money does not require full time trading, I suggested that the learner contribute some time as well.
Now, I am only mentoring 6 people in one trading room. The IT guy will have the room debugged by tomorrow he says.
The current PVT Universe is 136 stocks.
As a small side deal, I have the room owner on a linked in account for futures on my MAT account which creates money for 11 people who are local problem solvers.

I am not in a position to give advice. I know, as everone does here that you can design
a simple mean reversion system and a simple trend following system. What if you cant determine/ predict market direction yet decide to trade both systems together. Swing trading that is.....taking a lot of trades on say the sp100 or 500.
Trades cluster telling you what type of market your in. Trades in one system at times outperform the trades in the other system telling you again what type of market you are in.
Apply a moving average or trend line to equity curve of the combined systems.
From backntests see where and when you will stop trading. Adjust position size/risk so
this is a tolerable drawdown.
Dont ask for advice or such as i am working on this myself. Just an idea.

Who says elitetraders make money trading? Only Marketsurf and a few others are making verifiable real-time profitable calls on this board.
My question was a counter, it basicaly said why would anyone do anything other than trading if they can make money doing it, you ask me who is to say anyone makes money here, apart from the ones who post that do...
And a call does not translate into a live trade, every one knows surf is on sim.

There's nothing wrong with selling stuff on the side as a trader. I agree with you, its only smart to diversify.
