I think there’s 2 factors behind this:
1. Abortion
2. Convenience. People got used to mail-in ballots in 2020. Talking to people I know, I expect that young people were much more likely to mail in their ballots than vote in person. Had it not be for the pandemic, many would have skipped out if they had to actually show up to the polls.
