Historians Weigh in on Obama's Comparison of ISIS Militants to Medieval Christian Crusaders

Why look at it from the other perspective? You implied the actions of ISIS were occurring because of actions made by the west. Why would they be killing a bunch of middle easterners and japanese then? You made the claim, own up to it pal.

Second, even if we consider your perspective, the fact is ISIS started in Syria which the west had NOTHING to do with.
Because the friend of my enemy is my enemy.

Don't get me wrong, the fight is on and I want to see ISIS wiped out. I also want to see that happen without dragging the remaining 1.5 billion Muslims in the world into it.

For every hundred hacking at the branches there is but one chopping at the root.

Jordan has been asking for ammo, drones, hardware, etc... for some time. We have dragged our feet on that. Perhaps now we should give that support (and maybe we actually are at this point with combined air strikes), but first our leadership needs to get beyond "varsity league" challenges when they are far more.

I agree with your statement, but to get to the root might require more involvement by us than many here are willing to give...thus my statement regarding Jordan (and others of similar mind).

ISIS has nothing to do with the west. They are the sunni shock troops sent out to prevent the shias from expanding their control. The idea that they are a reaction to us is ridiculous, except insofar as our actions in Iraq, Egypt and Libya destabilized the region and created a series of power vacuums.

They are proxies for the Saudis and Qataris against Iran, just as the taliban were proxies for the pakistanis against Indian or russian influence in afghanistan.
