Rohm has tapped many conservative candidates to run as Democrats. He also picked many Iraq vets, many pro-gun and pro-life.

In 2006 and 2008 this is how the Dems won so many seats.

It was a smart move. Rohm did throw away any possibility of advancing laws for liberal social issues. But in return he did get control of all the committees and control of redistricting in 2010
