Well, the problem the West has is just plain ignorance. Ignorance of Russia's history, sacrifice, etc. A little knowledge and understanding would go a long way. Don't treat Russia like a run of the mill country. She isn't.

Well, the problem the West has is just plain ignorance. Ignorance of Russia's history, sacrifice, etc. A little knowledge and understanding would go a long way. Don't treat Russia like a run of the mill country. She isn't.
After a lifetime of living with the Cold War, I find it extremely odd if not uncomfortable to be defending Russia against my own country. However, it seems obvious to me that Obama has made a conscious decision to do everything in his power to poison relations with Russia.
It seemed to start with the Sochi Olympics, when Obama tried to spoil Putin's show to placate his homo backers. Obama amped it up by fomenting a coup in Ukraine. The new government was rabidly anti-Russian, which is not great policy if you are a weak, impoverished country on Russia's doorstep. Like several other former Soviet states, Ukraine's new leaders wanted the US and NATO to both bankroll them and give them the military muscle to poke the Russian bear. Somehow our genius leaders thought that was a good plan.
On to Syria, where the Russians came in at the invitation of the Syrian government, which was fighting multiple terrorist groups, all financed by the US or US "allies." Somehow, this became Russian "aggression." Putin showed great restraint when NATO member Turkey shot down one of his planes on specious grounds. Now Obama is boiling mad because Putin and Assad are on the verge of crushing the terrorist insurgency, so he decides all on his own to break off relations with the world's other superpower.
It is no wonder Putin is concerned and alarmed. Obama's policies are reckless and provocative and for no discernible reason, other than personal animosity toward Putin.

I can imagine another reason.... If the Odumbo-Putin pissn' contest turns into a nuclear exchange, Odumbo be thinking... "at least America and it's white supremacy be destroyed... I'll settle for that".
We all need to hope this business will be limited to sabre rattling.
This thread is an example of how well fear works as a political tactic in the U.S. And it works just as well, if not ever better, in Russia. It's also been the defense industries of both countries most effective tool since the second world war, and remains so today. That's why both nations are saddled with millions of tons of useless military hardware, and the debt and inflation that goes along with it.
