Lets stick to facts and avoid erecting strawmen.
Obama was an unqualified radical who had barely worked a day in his life and had been coddled by affirmative action and slobbering leftists like Bill ayers since he entered college. He was at Rev. Wright's black liberation church for 20 years.
By the time Romney ran against him, Obama had presided over one of the worst economic recoveries of all time, had forced through a disastrous health care plan, had raised taxes and waged a war on energy in all forms except for solar, where he used government slush funds to reward contributors. He had allowed Americans to be killed in Benghazi and not reacted, except to blame it on an obscure video and then tried to cover up his lies and incompetency. The IRS was well into its illegal harrassment of Tea Party groups.
Romney did not have to make up accusations of wife beating to score points. All he had to do was hammer home the theme of an unqualified radical amateur president making a mess of things. Somehow he failed to do it.

Agreed. And in hammering all that home, he would have been perfectly correct to do so. No idea why he didn't do it. Being honorable doesn't mean you can't tell the truth if something is negative. It means you don't make up shit.
