I think Evangelicals are confused about Romney. On the one hand, many Evangelicals do consider the LDS Church to be at best a sect and at worst not even Christian, plus Romney enthusiastically supported the gay agenda and abortion. On the other hand, he has basically repudiated those positions, and he has lived an exemplary life that speaks well of his faith. In addition, Romney is clearly the most capable and accomplished person in the race in either party. He started Bain Capital, he turned around the Salt Lake City Olympics, he was a great governor, and he maintained an excellent family life all through it. Plus, he is not a career politician.

It does NOT MATTER what the christian right thinks of Obama, he is a DEMOCRAT, they're the Republican party's traditional base. They are going to vote for his opponent. He does not need them to win. He needs half the state electoral votes, period.
ROMNEY needs them because he IS a REPUBLICAN. I've spent a lot of time talking with a lot of different evangenlical Christians over the years and I don't see them voting for Romney, not a chance. Not in the Republican Primary. Without them he can't win that primary.

You know what's funny. How everyone looks at people and passes judgement, not on their ability, but on some superficial trait. Hillary is "the woman". Obama is "the black guy". And Romney is "the mormon". One day this country will actually wake up and not make pathetic choices based on religion, skin color and gender.
I get so sick of this anti-religon sentiment. As much as hearing about Obama's skin color. It's so funny. I keep hearing about what a progressive society we have, yet we won't elect a mormon or a muslim or some combination. What is it about religon that scares people? Here is what I believe. One day, we are going to wake up and be paying 70% of our income in taxes. Then people will shut the f*ck up about someone being a mormon or a muslim or southern baptist like Bill Clinton. That is what it's going to take. Usually it takes some extreme event to wake people up.
Maybe when there is a line of 500 people at your local hospital waiting for open heart surgery by a 3rd rate government doctor and you have to take a number, maybe then. Maybe once we get to the point where 80% of white AND black high school students can't read at the 3rd grade level and can't name their own state capital. Maybe then this country will stop being so freaking prejudiced.
Maybe once news spreads that social security is bankrupt and grandma and grandpa are going to have to work till their 90 to pay for the prescription drugs, maybe then the old folks will stop bitching about what God someone worships. Maybe when Uganda starts taking all our jobs because our young people can't make it out of junior high. Maybe then.....

Well, I think it's wrong for religious people to judge other religious people. Of course it's ridiculous for Christians to pass judgement on Mormons. Like I said, the old saying goes, be careful what you wish for, you might just get it.
