Hihi: New York Times "Three states have joined forces to rename U.S. 666"

Before REnaming they have to name first. If they weren't so silly to name 666 what is to be known as supertitious number by everybody even non believers they wouldn't have to rename and waste the tax haha !

As for the bible, as I am not a believer, I can't swear, but as far as I know the prophecy says that the mark of the beast everywhere will be the sign so naming a route 666 if the parabol of THE PATH TO THE EVIL is not clear well :D

Don't these bible people read the bible they claim to follow? That passage in the Book of Revelation says that 666 is the 'number of a man', doesn't say it's a U.S. Route number, even though it also says in the first chapter that this all symbolic anyway so why take 666 as anything literal, let alone apply it to highways numbered 666.

So without any basis other than this misapplication of scripture, the taxpayers' monies will be wasted to pay for the legislation and new signs. How come the multitude of religious leaders, theologists and clergy in these 3 states don't come forward waving their hands and saying, "No, no, no, you've got it all wrong!" On the other hand, if Satan has been terrorizing motorists for all these years, why haven't they petitioned for the name change years before? And if Satan is as monstrous as they say, how will a name change really keep him off the road? And if they do force him off the road, aren't they fearful he may just follow them home?

And a democrat's behind this "religious right" type legislation! That alone should comprise a sign of the end times.

"666" only describes the numerical value of the name of the antichrist as given in the book of revelations. Just because you label something as "666", doesn't mean that thing is evil or cursed.
 
dotslashfuture, I think that's the point and we all agree. Yet there's legislation covering 3 states involving governors and other politicians in that lunacy nonetheless. Why don't they see Satan in my health insurance premiums going up and get cracking on that? Many people are already paying over $666 a month just for that.

harrytrader: the gist about wasted monies was in context about doing so on the basis of religious superstition. Maybe that's applicable to the articles you cited but I don't think so. You seem engrossed by the USA, but there's centuries of silly religious superstition wasting peoples' time and monies, and worse, in France you could trip across, I mean, one of France's best known historical personage is the dillusional Joan of Arc. Then there's the persecution of the Huguenots, the quakery/souvneir business that is Lourdes, the monies and effort spent on building humongous cathedrals while people went poor and suffering, things like that. Did you know the guillotine was last used in France in 1975?
 
666 has no meaning at all for non occultists. I am not occultist as you know I hate all those mysticisms especially in stock market about moon, astrology and Fibonaccci: those who pretends that fibo is natural law in stock markets are just MYSTICS !!! Yes they exhibit in stock market but if it was natural law of offer and demand we shouldn't have them ! And econophysicians are now admetting that they exist and are very perplex about the cause.

Pretending that giving 666 as a name is just by hasard is of course non-sense ! It can be innocent or it cannot be WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF OCCULTISTS. If you speak out of context sure you can say everything like nothing has meaning including life it's just an illusion haha !

So if this route has 666 as name it doesn't mean that evil is riding this road it means at least that either it's just a joke either that like in stock market there are many mystics ! If so many mystics are in control of society it shouldn't be astonishing that this world is driven by craziness !

well, harrytrader, I admit you have a point there.

Although it just seems sensical to me that the reason fibo works when it does is that enough people are looking at the same numbers and acting on that, and when it doesn't work, they aren't.
 
I've been in many buildings where floor 13 was 'skipped' with elevator numbers going from 12 to 14. I don't think that fools anyone but I suppose from a psychological standpoint there are enough people to feel uncomfortable living/renting on floor 13 that the mktg dept had to do something other than leave the 13th floor empty.

In other cultures, other numbers are despised or coveted. The number 8 for example is a HUGE positive number in China/HK where as 7 symbolizes death. In Japan I believe the 'bad' number is 3.

This whole thing with 666 is similar.
