High Pings & Latencies in Day Trading?

It is in the ears; they listen ...
Speaking of which; metoox, are there any solutions out yet to transform DOM and / or tape data into audible signals, to reduce the workload of optical processing and improve focus on the more relevant things? That would really insterest me. I know sth like this would be super.

Not to mention this could considerably contribute to improving the inferior multithreading capability of male CPU's.

Ok, true. But then the poll is not measuring anything other than whether there are more "swing" traders than "arbitrageurs" responding to this thread - that is certainly self-evident simply because there are 100 "swing" traders to every 1 arbitrageur.

In a way, the best general answer will come from those that are neither arbs or swing traders, as it is clear that to arbs it is critical and to swingers it is of no consequence - you gain no insite from asking them. The high volume daytrader on the other hand is in some way the one that best answers this question, since for him, speed is just another tool in his toolbox. The question is, how important is it for him. When I did that kind of trading, my vote would have been, it is very important, but not critical.

The poll question should be: If speed is important to your trading, do low ping times matter?

Otherwise, we might as well ask whether we would put a blind dog at the head of the pack or in the back.

nitro

nitro,

Ok - true enough - but don't be picking on my blind dog. :D

Best regards and may your pings be the lowest,

plumlazy

PS. on some of my bigger trading days (like the 20 round trip ones...lol) I do have some less than 30 second scalps in there.
1/2 point NQ = 10 bux minus 4.80 = 5.20 which equates to 11 small cans of pedigree dog food at 47 cents a can at wally world.

Did I ever mention that I was a piker! :D with a pike pike here, a pike pike there, here a pike, there a pike, everywhere a pike pike.

Heard that, but I don't know anyone working on it.

Easier to write a black box ...

metoox, how's the trader structure in your team? Are they mostly discretionary, systematic, or a balance of both, or what does it look like?

Sorry if this is asking too much information.

Hi metooxx,

Do you put girls or boys in those black boxes?

I opened up one of those black boxes once. It was Shroedinger's Cat inside. Dead as a doornail. Really smelly too.

Naw, not a chance - I took my last drink on August 18'th, 1982.

But prior to that date, I drank enough to float a battleship, smoked enough weed to choke a mule and tried everything else that came down the pike at least once, which resulted in the death of many a braincell - obviously enough for me to never ever stand a remote chance at ever being normal. :D

I'm satisfied with just calling it left over residue in the brain.
