hhi.hk and hsi...

Quote from Bitstream:

yeah, as a consolation, all of usa traders can trade china ishares trough ib.

FXI for US retail, and these two contracts are good (hsi and hhi.hk) as well.

CHL (china mobile) is a large part of heng sang as well. CHDX is part of the enterprise index too. the list goes on.

Yup! We are off to the races. I dont get why the H-shares move as much as hang seng when the index is only half the size of hang seng. I guess that's like the natural gas and crude oil for HK. The spread can sometimes be wide given the small nominal value of the index.

HSBC is a big HSI component too.

Osaka mini is 5 points increment. I dont think US guys can trade it tho.

Quote from Alex_in_Oz:

Try what I've been doing for a while buy 2147 on the Hang Seng and trade it. Its a Cheung Kong put warrant April 2007 exp.
I'm also long the stock (CHEUY.PK) or 1 on the Hang Seng
Bank of China (3988) puts and calls are always fun.
I really enjoy trading the Hang Seng.
(Betty Liu on CNBC is good to watch as well)

Would you let us know a few more details? I'm tatally unfamiliar with the Chinese indexes/markets.

You can trade nikkei 225 mini and full-size futures electronically in the US.

yes. that last was correct

the Nikkei Mini is CFTC approved for US accounts

the hang seng mini is not

and of course, all the options are off the table for US traders

however, you CAN buy options on EWJ (japan fund) which is a pretty close proxy for the nikkei
