Hey. "This Occupy Wall Street" thing is starting to grow.

Quote from pspr:

I'm losing respect for you dude. Have you looked at the videos? Do you see anyone breaking anything or attacking the cops? I don't. All I see are cops taking down people for apparently no reason. The cops need to act in a higher manner than the protesters. They are not.

That is entirely my POINT! You are watching a VIDEO! Finally you get it.

Quote from Ricter:

History shows again and again that people can talk to power until they're "blue in the face" and get utterly nothing for their efforts.

Ricter, they VOTED these people into power.

Nice red herring. I guess you realize your argument is a non-starter.

I have rarely seen cops act in a reasonably responsible manner when they try to control a crowd when they have a preconception that the crowd will be hostile. Invariably they over react.

I'm not defending the reason these people are congregating. But it is their right to do so.

Quote from Ricter:

People's ire gets misdirected. Look at the tea party.

So you are against the tea party protest but for the Wall Street protest? Did I get that right?

Quote from Maverick74:

No, I'm saying you are watching this from your computer not from the streets. I have lived in NY. i have attended these protests. Hell, I have friends that do this shit. Don't break things? On average these protests cause 100's of thousands in damage. Worse, they can spark violent riots, not just between cops and the protestors but between other protestors. These things get out of control very fast.

Listen to me very carefully. You are watching Youtube videos. You are not THERE. These videos are showing one side of the story at one particular point in time.

I've made no judgement one way or the other. In fact, I'm pretty sure I explained that in my last reply to you. However, you failed to answer any of my questions so let me pose them again:

Should protesting something be considered anarchy?

Have these protesters caused damage or attacked police?

Do you think the police should adhere to a proper escalation of force (when dealing with protesters) or should that principle be abandoned?

Thanks Doctor. Yes, almost all people have a tendency to over react. And the sky is blue as well. Btw, markets fluctuate too.

No, but when a protest shuts down a city and local government has no control over the situation, that is anarchy.

Have these protesters caused damage or attacked police?

Yes they have caused damage and yes they have attacked police.

Do you think the police should adhere to a proper escalation of force (when dealing with protesters) or should that principle be abandoned?

Yes, I think police should make every attempt possible to adhere to proper escalation of force.

I"m against the idea that the protestors we like are righteous and the protestors we don't like are "cockroaches".

Yes they have caused damage and yes they have attacked police.
Do you have video or other evidence supporting your claim? I haven't read or seen anything of that sort.

Does that give the cops the right to violently take anyone want for no reason down to the ground and arrest them?
