He's Baaaaack - Arnold Runs!

I don't like this 'recall' crap....he was elected so live with it until the next election....I don;t care for Gray Davis but the people (majority) put him in for a 4 year term...end of story...did he do anything illegal? if not, then this is crazy and more importantly sets a DANGEROUS and COSTLY precedent...what if Arnold does get in....a year from now, you can have another recall????...where does it stop? Basically in any state that allows it you could have recalls on any election that was close and essentially have a "do over"....what's this going to cost Ca??
also there will be 'revenge' recalls in other states....we see this all the time in the fed gov't and all it does is waste time and $$.

Probably this type of recall law needs to be tightened up a lot. The question is whether this recall is the product of extraordinary public anger over Davis' performance or merely a result that can be duplicated pretty much at will by well-financed activists. No doubt we'll get a chance to find out.

I do note the irony that the Democrats who are bitterly complaining about a perfectly legal use of this quirky law see nothing wrong in using/abusing the filibuster process to tie up judicial appointments that are favored by a majority in the Senate.
 
You know all you liberals should love Arnold. He supports abortion. He wants to bring the corporations back to CA so he can tax the hell out of them. He talks about big social spending programs. He supports gay rights. And don't worry, he will raise taxes for individuals as well. Yup, he's a liberal alright. Most conservatives do not like Arnold and Rush Limbaugh totally attacked him on his liberal beliefs. So you democrats should be thrilled to have another hollywood liberal in power. Don't let the R in front of his name fool you. He is no more Conservative then Bill Clinton. I would call Arnold a moderate democrat.

If you want to turn California around you need a true conservative elected. Someone who will cut both corp taxes as well as individual taxes. Someone will control the f*cking border in Mexico. Someone who will improve the public education system that is the worst by far in the nation. And last but not least but someone who can fix MediCal which has had over 1 billion dollars in fraudulent claims by doctors and patients.

The people of California have decided to exercise their legal right. No matter who started this ball rolling, that is the process. No laws have been broken in using it. Unlike a certain on-going filibuster, this does not cost the country, just California.

That is what the law was created for, the ability to cancel a bad decision early. If that is the law, then that is the law. It was not something that was created without examining the consequences, both physically and fiscally. I wish that the process could be adopted in a fashion to make it less expensive, but that's the way it is.

Now, if as you say they should live with Gray, then they will vote him back in. They do have that ability. That would send a powerful message to those who say remove him early. Of course you do have the ability to voice your support for this thing stopping. The California papers take advertising $$, place your ad and reasoning. I am sure that Davis would welcome your support. Remember, you do have the ability to voice your opinion. This is America! :)

Anytime that the citizens exercising their rights makes the government unstable, that should be an instant signal that the government has done something wrong. This is no monarchy! Ya' screw up, the citizens should be able to toss you out. Too many of our politico's (on both sides of the isle) have made this an extended career. I am not an advocate of this. I personally would see nothing wrong with a 20 and out clause. :)
 
I know it's the law...im not claiming it;s illegal...but i think the danger far outweighs the benefit....I believe only 0ne million votes are needed in California to start the recall.....that is not a lot in a state with about 25-30 million people...the law is old and antiquated....in a sense, 10 million people cold have voted for davis but because of one million....you get a do over....and Im telling you right now, ANY hotly contested battle in the future that a republican wins will result in a democratic recall initiative......From a republican standpoint I actually do not like this move....let Davis finish bankrupting the state and then win the next election...this way the new governor has nowhere to go but UP...also this mess is not going to be solved in a 2-3 year period and will most likely get worse before it gets better....In a way, the Democrats may benefit from the Republican taking the weight off their back and be able torun a strong campaign based on this recall that didn't work.

And Arnold is not ready to be an elected official...too may movies, openings, interviews....do you really see him staying in his office 6 days a week sometimes 18 hours a day, knowing that he could be sitting in his ocean front home be in the Riviera banging 20 year olds???
 
The interesting "statistical" fact about this RECALL VOTE is that Gov. Davis could actually receive 49.9% of the vote NOT to recall, and yet wind-up losing to a candidate that has only 15% of the vote.

Think about THAT one for a second . . .
