No that's not what happened. Cain initially was pro-choice, and he was consistent. His reasoning was that the teabaggers want small government, and that means keeping the government out of women's wombs. It was a logical position. The very next interview, it was clear some schooling had taken place (most teabaggers are really theocrats who want to end abortions) so he was trying to reconcile two contradictory positions and naturally wound up looking like a fool. Even Fox News was incredulous at his position, so yeah blame the "liberal" media for your candidate's nonsense. For the typical theocratic teabagger, "small government" is code for "small government for me and those who think like me, but huge intrusive government for everybody else." Cain hadn't figured out the code, just like he had to be schooled by Limbaugh that he wasn't there to criticize white racists (Perry's N*****head rock), he was there to cover for white racists.
