Baron, I've already answered the question posed by Turveyd. The noise level of trolls and others who are here for a variety of reasons (other than trading) ...reduces the quality of serious discussion. There is simply too much noise between the good content ...to be able to manually filter it out ...without having it affect (the quality of) the contribution to the worthwhile content.
When we encounter a troll we are told ... simply put them on ignore. I agree that's a perfect solution but the way ignore is implemented is unusable. It's flaws indicate it's designed for members who have a strong emotionally based opposition to 1 or 2 other members.
Those who are more emotionally detached ...ignoring a large list of trolls ...are penalized for using the ignore feature. Ignore is flawed because it hides entire threads, which contain valuable content, it even hides threads that contain content contributed by members I am subscribed to.

If you are using a tablet, try opening the page in a new private tab. When I do this with an Android tablet, it shows posts of users on my ignore list without the need of logging out.
Baron, the workarounds posted by other members involve insignificant issues which aren't a problem for me. When I put someone on ignore I never remove them. They are a distraction that interrupts my focus (on all of the valuable content). I need a solution to what I described in earlier notes or I would not spend any time on this.
As a side note, completely unrelated to this subject or anything else specific to ET, other than the fact it's a public message board ... I have made a choice to stop posting. I am announcing this publicly only because it will help me stick to that decision. I will still be here searching for new ideas, and thus I still need a way to resolve this issue with the ignore feature. Hopefully, the info in my recent posts to this topic triggered something that enables you to understand the need for what I described, and it will be an easy fix, ... or perhaps you or someone else will suggest an effective work around.

I never quite understood why you were having problems with this. Here is a case analysis. I have the user @theapprentice on ignore, shown via this screenshot. (I erased the other names)
Then today I was looking up new threads, and in the list was a thread started by him, the ones titled "Best Daytrading Stocks". (I had already clicked on it before taking the screen capture and hence it shows up as being read)
But when I read the actual thread, I can see replies, but not his. Note how post #1 isn't visible since this was his post, and it starts with post #2.
So the point of all this is that even when a person who you blocked does start a thread, it still shows up in your list, just not when they reply. Not sure why you are having problems seeing threads that people who you block started. Perhaps they also blocked you?

Thanks Gotcha, that's a fair workaround for the bug in the NEW POSTS button. It's not the fix I need but it helps. New Posts is the list that's broken. It's the 4th icon on the top banner, and to my knowledge it's likely the most popular button on ET.
The second location this bug appears is when clicking on a subsection of the forum. For instance clicking on TA leads to a list of all the threads in the TA subsection. Unfortunately, that list is missing a lot of good threads, with great content, simply because I have a large ignore list.
Baron, it would increase the mouse clicks ET receives if the lists I just described included the missing threads (which are on the list Gotcha posted, the ThreadsWithRecentPosts list). It would also go a long way toward making my ET experience unforgettable.

Ah, well then, I can see why you are having problems. I didn't even find threads via the links you posted, don't use ET that way, but I can see how you use it differently.
To be honest though, there really isn't that much useful stuff here. I mean if you're profitable, you don't need to listen to what else is going on, and if you're not profitable, this place will certainly not help. You literally have to already know what you're doing to know what is bullshit and what isn't. I think you're doing very well, so I'm surprised that you're so fixated on finding all the good threads.
