Quote from Thunderdog:
How do you stay informed about world events, cultural and societal trends, and other goings on? With a ouija board?
Point taken. However, perhaps your personal experience is not entirely representative of what is going on in your country in the aggregate, or at least in key "hot spot" areas around the country. Areas that do not appear to be getting smaller. Therefore, by your own admission, perhaps you are no better informed than I about those areas of your country with which you are not personally familiar. Consequently, your opinion carries no more weight than mine, and perhaps less so, because mine at least is aligned with what is reported by the mainstream media across the globe.Quote from Haroki:
No I attempt to stay current on world affairs just like you do, apparently. By reading the newspaper and watching the news.....
It's just that I'm smart enough to know that this information doesn't mean that I REALLY know how it is any place other than where I personally experience it on a daily basis.......

Quote from Thunderdog:
Haroki, it appears to me that you are so saturated in it that you don't even recognize it anymore because it's part of who you are. You have become desensitized. I wish you well.
You blame the "liberals" and the media for not reporting the "positive" gun stories. Did your sister tell the media what happened to her? If not, then how are they to know and report it? And while I have no doubt that there are such stories to tell, your wanting to extrapolate a relatively few anecdotal examples into the stratosphere has no basis in fact. You are reaching in a way that is far greater than what you are accusing me of.Quote from Haroki:
...What I find telling about your position is that you still haven't responded to my query about why ANY media outlet would report anything BUT the sensational stories - which, by the way, support your position only by omission of the positive stories. Which kinda blows your 'alignment with the mainstream media across the globe' outta the water and exposes it for what it is...
Quote from atozcom:
Instead of Haroki become desensitized, could you have become over sensitized?
The Desensitized believe that mass killing by crazy with gun is rare and unpreventable in terms of our population and the the number of guns in our society. ?
The Over sensitized believe that RARE and unpredictable killing by crazy must be preventable and can be prevented by gun control.
Cars kill people, therefore we don't allow cars.
