He needs to get his neck out of the Depression, and learn what has happened in the last 70 years.

"Free market" means, "you sell whatever you want in the USA", based on $2 a day labor, ignoring worker protection, environmental and every other cost. And put up a fight against US imports to YOUR country. Not to mention widespread stealing of American software, brands, music, movies and a lot of other stuff.

You got your history backwards.

Read up on non-interventionism and isolationism in the U.S. It was a core tenant of the U.S. long before the '30s.
