Given that the markets are forward looking, it would be a little naive to think they are not pricing in at least some of the effects of a presidential election. An election that Obama is clearly favored to win. You may not like it, especially given recent action, but it's a pretty safe bet to say the market is looking ahead to a likely Obama administration with both houses controlled by Democrats.
