That's a big help. I'd like to trade Globex with a Universal account and thought I had to wait to open with 10k. Maybe I'm thinking of the real time free data feed from Interactive Brokers that requires the 10k initial. Think I'll email them that question.

One of the better, if not the best, retail spot Forex brokers is an ECN - EFX Group. Their PR guy has a thread here:

Where are you getting this information? There is NOTHING that requires 10k initial from a retail customer. 5k is it.

For years Ensign software has suggested an Interactive Brokers Universal account and their free real time data feed to run Ensign. They quoted $10,000 as the minimum initial account for the free data.

Don't see the 10k figure now:

I emailed IB to find out exactly what it takes to get their free data.

Ids, just noticed who you are.

What about your free data feed? Does the 5k account come with the data?

Whatever is free comes free with any account without a difference in size.
