Help with multi monitor setup

Op, if you want an easy solution, providing you have a blue USB outlet on your laptop (usb 3), pm me and I will give you a link to a unit that will drive 2 additional dvi monitors.

You can do what you like with your life, and your money - don't think you can tell others what to do, or some of us will tell you where to go very quickly:rolleyes:

I don't give a flying F*K what YOU do, but advising people to use cracked software is bad advice.

I wasn't the one who said to use cracked software, without reference to your "God View Curry Hack" disclaimer until confronted. I merely stated aside from the moral and legal issues, using cracked software is asinine advice for novices and any sane serious trader.

So let's just agree to disagree...

Well the laptop I currently have is an i7 5500 processor and has an Nvidia 940 graphics card. It is sold for about 700. Shouldn't this laptop be good enough to support just two extra monitors without shortening it's lifetime dramatically?

The only laptops designed for heavy graphics are Alienware, and they cost more than a PC with better hardware!

If your laptop has a blue USB connection, then you can get another 2 dvi monitors connected cheaply?

Overall, you cannot cramp electronics into a small space without heat issues - no matter what!

You are a Gobshite - wake the fuk up!

Cracked software is no more dangerous than google analytics - what planet have you been growing potatoes on..lol

Keep as much of your hard earned money as you can - fuk moral and legal issues - the only thing that should concern you is your family, FUK everyone else!

My advice is forget it, if you are serious about daytrading. Laptops are not designed for lots of graphics, and you will have big problems with overheating, which will shorten the lifespan of your laptop dramatically.

You can put together a nice small mini atx full PC for very small money - get an eyefinity capable motherboard - I have 4 monitors running with just one dual output graphics card and can add another 2 if I like.

240GB SSD running Windows 10 64 bit with 8 GB ram is the basic requirements - 16GB would be better, but not required.

Win 10 can be setup for free.

Off top of my head, full setup should cost roughly $350 - $400 - half that if you buy seconhand.

Make sure you get the right motherboard, as it is the most important when it comes to multi monitor - let me know if you want some make / model no's and I can get same for you to build your system for peanuts compared to what you will pay in shops.

John what motherboards do you like for multi-monitors ? I have been using Asus x58 sabertooth for over 4 years, I used to run 8 monitors but have only been able to use 4 monitors for last
year and half. I really feel like it is MB, since both Quad NVS 450 work. Gary

Used to run two surface pros with 2x34" curved widescreens each (4 in total), the only issue was when you get down to tick charts, don't switch off indicator on tick updates, and have too many charts with 15-20 indicators. Then you need something powerful.

You can try an HDMI switch or a USB3 adapter, but buy it from Amazon as you can just send it back if it's no good. You'll probably have to try a few options before you find the right one, it comes down to your trading style and strategy but for the most part a laptop can work just fine.

Monitors 1,2,3 on Radeon HD 7700

Monitor 4 on motherboard (Intel(R) HD Graphics) via HDMI with one additional output available on DVI.

Motherboard will only output 2 graphics, but has 3 slots - HDMI, DVI and Display Port.

If I want, I can use the Display Port out to a Dell MMH11 DVI adapter - one display port to 3 x DVI monitors, to get a total of 7 monitors - OR - change my graphics card - put in 2 x dual display port output cards (which I have but I have to get the model numbers as they are in another PC I have) to 4 x Dell MMH11 DVI adapters, to get a total of 14 monitors if I like - BUT - I find that 4 is plenty for the way I trade!

I have 2 x Dell MMH11's, and just bought another on ebay for 20 Euro - they are hard to get secondhand, so whenever I come across one at the right price I buy it.

I also bought 3 x dual display port output graphics cards on ebay for small money - have 2 in another PC and have one as a spare.

Have bout 18 monitors in total:rolleyes:

ALSO - my previous statement about eyefinity was incorrect - I meant to say make sure your graphics card has eyefinity capability if you want to use the 3 outputs on it - nothing to do with the motherboard

Side note - from someone who had 12 monitors at one stage, do not get carried away, as, the more things you look at the more confused you can get.

Rule of thumb - if you are not using what is on your screens when trading - GET RID OF IT.

It took me a while to get my 4 monitors setup with relevant information - and now I use all the info on the 4 when trading - have some tabs on one monitor to flick between some lower timeframes if required, as in, 30 sec, 1 min, 5 min - anything above that is on another monitor for continual observation.

It is really a personal choice - and it is easy to know if it works, as you will make some money - if you are losing then it is obviously not working and you need to change your layout to get the right info to make better trading decisions.

Simple really:)

So for my style of trading I'm currently just needing to hookup two extra monitors for my laptop. After plugging one in through the HDMI it is perfect. For the second extra monitor I would need an HDMI to USB graphics adapter right? On Amazon I see they are around 50 dollars.
