Help needed - I overtrade after 11am

If you’re losing with your strategy after 11 A.M, simply don’t trade after 11. I don’t see why people here are encouraging him to trader after 11 when it is clear that he needs to change the strategy if he wants to trade at that time.

If its your emotions taking the wheel use external task to keep you occupied
just close your PC and hit the gym or a walk at 11
I'd even suggest you not to check mails or new on your trading PC after 11

If you see a series of pattern for your losses then rectify it, in your case you've already done it.
There is no point of giving your profits back to the market
call it a day and start fresh the next day

Ken, I trade mostly on the futures side, but same issue. Awhile ago I decided to mostly watch the markets from 1300 CST on, do research, and occasionally take a trade if it was one of my better setups. Why if you have identified that it is hurting your income do you keep trading? Others have made good points on that question, and I think you would be better served to stop trading and take the time to figure out if there are other setups that would be better if the ones you are using don't seem to work after a particular time frame.
Most days anymore I am done with trades by 1100 CST unless I have a trailing position on, and then I may add if I see opportunity, but am rarely taking new trades in futures.

I'm really pissed off at myself. I should write a book called The Undisciplined Trader.

For the umpteenth time I gave back morning profits by over trading in the afternoon. I was up nicely by 11 a.m., then I gave it all back and ended up in the red by a few hundred dollars at the end of the day today. Again. I'm a trading junkie. I did 75 round trips today, virtually all the ones after 11 were stop outs.

I really appreciate any ideas, especially from any of you who struggled with the same challenge and somehow made some progress.

I know how to make winning trades, and do so frequently. The big truth of the situation is that your trading odds are much lower after 11 a.m. most days, even if you're using the same strategies that have been successful before 11 a.m., and that's tough to reconcile.

It's like the puzzles are waiting to be solved everyday from 9:30 a.m. till 4 p.m.

a good poker analogy is that I'm playing against the fish in the donkeys and am taking their chips before 11 a.m., but after 11 a.m. the sharks of low volatility come in, making it much tougher to win. I wish I could just simply walk away from the computer at 11 a.m., that's probably the best solution. Any ideas? Thanks guys.

I can't comment on why it appears plays seem to work at a certain time of day and not at others.... actually that notion to me seems ridiculous.

The best you can do is, "trade what you know".. "trade what you see on the chart". The time of day a trade sets up is irrelevant.

I use to have this problem long ago, you can either adapt system by having different parameters, if you losing during lunch, profits become smaller but risk expands due to less volume. Or design totally different trading model by changing timeframe, double or triple and change duration of time you are in.

IF some never gives up some profits;
probably an underperformer to max,LOL
Most likely losses are an ETF pattern \ like i lost more in ETF semi conds.........................so skip that for me..............................................

Analyze your losing trades - why did you lose? Without doing that all the well meaning suggestions in the world won't help you any.

Setups that often work before 11 often don't work after 11 bc lunch choppy markets and lower volatility

11am?
How about cooking some complex tasty dishes and invite a friend or a relative for lunch :D

This is my wife, I'll try making 11am play dates or whatever with her.... work work work lol :p
