Help I have had it with Sierra need

Understandable that Sierra isn't intuitive but the last iteration is the final straw. I added my two cents in the help section and quite a few people have the same query. They have managed to overcomplicate a simple task of duplicating a symbol from one worksheet to another, providing the same answer and of course expecting the same result, possibly in their own minds. I dont usually like to change, but need a recommendation for a good trading platform.
I trade mainly equities and at any given time I am monitoring at least 100 symbols. I am utilizing TC 2000 which is excellent for scanning and working with weekly, daily and minute charts. Unfortunately TC 2K has no fibonacci or the ability to do custom anything. I have had issues in the past with Ninja, I don't necessarily need to trade from the charts, and ideally would like to utilize IB stream.
 
try motivewave or ninjatrader

motivewave may get data from IB quicker than ninjatrader, both free if you just want charts. Pay to place trades.
 
Thank you, years ago I used Ninja Trader, and the problem was the inability to have multiple charts on the screen at one time. I have a realestate issue with 4 screens, and trying to at least have multiple charts and alerts. I am going to give Ensign a try, used them about 10 years ago, and will see since they do have connectivity to IB. If only IB had a decent charting package instead of Sega from the 90's.

I am not surprised by the SC issue. When I was reviewing platforms for my IB account, I rejected, NT and SC. I looked over the forums for issues and bugs, and then looked over the development-release logs and the type of fixes and "improvements". Based on my experience as a Test Manager at MSFT, it was clear that the type of bugs indicated the basic infrastructure of the code was at best a mess that needs a re-write, and at worse, would eventually, if albeit slowly, de-evolve into a hot mess where bug fixes will cause more bugs (regressions). Adding new features would only hasten the problems. All of this is in my opinion, be it from a seasoned professional.

I am using MC. The scripting language is easy to use. The IB data stream has a limitation of 400 data bars per 5 minutes or something like that. So often I make data requests and let it run overnight. Also the IB historical data is always suspect according to people and they use a dedicated data stream, which I will do also at some point. Also I am using MC as a prototyping system, before moving onto a C-ish implementation.

I agree the TC2000 is really good at scanning for swing trading. If you are using the scripting language there, the MC language will be an easy transition, but it is more robust.

Have you looked at InvestorRT at linnsoft.com? I have probably 30 charts open, all using custom indicators using their language, which is easy, and connects directly to IB api. It has all of the popular tools like fibanacci but a lot more etc. I used to use to scan through 1300 symbols for positive signals and its very efficient. I've been using it for a very long time.

I have 15 charts and a watchlist with ninjatrader. They have linking for time periods and security.

TradingView is going to be a chart type in IB TWS mosaic soon.

Which datafeed do you use with InvestorRT to scan 1300 symbols? Is it IB´s`?

At that point, it was DTN/Dtniq. Iirc, the subscription allowed for 800, and an additional charge allowed another 500 for up to 1300. I've only tried about 600-800 with IB.
 
You can use Medved Trader. Can mix various brokers and datafeeds, including IB, and can trade multiple accounts at multiple brokers at the same time. You can use the broker for the datafeed, or use a 3rd party subscription feed such as dxFeed, IQFeed, QuoteMedia, etc. Very customizable. Scanning a few thousand symbols is not a problem. dozens of charts are handled easily. And of course various Fibonacci drawings/indicators are available

Just FYI - doing 800 or more symbols for equities is far better with dxFeed than paying the extra for IB.
 
Thank you all for your help, I have a great deal to look at scrutinize and decide. One last question for Bad_Badness, what is MC? In most cases since I am overseeing 9 accounts (family) I don't really have any sophisticated system, I do have access to top of the line coding sources but had not taken advantage. Although this is a business, I above all else look at my fibs, EMA's, and especially important is the visuals for candlesticks. I don't even look at futures, too much brain damage in the past, and due to the sizes of the accounts 4 figures a day is the norm. Off course so is the losses including stop losses. Thank you all have a great deal of work to do, and evaluations and feedback is much appreciated.
