I was informed that I should have at least 1.7 -2.0 Ghz system -- this one is 1.5Ghz -- it that a major or minor concern.

it depends on your system or trading plan if you will. for me-even P1 will be fine. you should be ok with it, but i think-price is to high.

not worth that much. you can buy a new dell 3000 for that price. like this one.

Hey vhehn
Can you place a link direct to it
I want to buy it right away :)

I have to say that buying a used computer generally makes very little sense. Part of it is reliability, and part of it has to do with just how cheap computers have become.

My point is that if you can stretch a little you can have a very low cost PC put together for you, new, with warranty. If you can't afford a new computer, how are you going to afford to trade (no offense)?

No one has really mentioned why the computer I am looking at is inadeqaute --beside the price.

What features is this computer lacking? --what other details should I be looking for to make it worth while.

This computer fullfills all the requirements listed on the Hardware Training forum on this site -- except that it is a 1.5ghz -- whareas the recomended say should be a 1.7 -2.0 Ghz.

Commnets appreciated..

I think the proposed computer is just fine so long as you're sure it will accommodate all of the monitors you want to run and has enough slots for your peripherals... like modem, TV tuner, etc. (However, I recently sold a 1.4Ghz P4 with 512 RAM and WinXP Home + 17" monitor, for $225.)

It likely has "enough" RAM + WinXP Pro has become more of an issue since Microsoft has stated extended support will continue for 5 years beyond when support ends for XP Home. Since that announcement, Dell has jacked up the price of XP Pro. Formerly, Pro was a $70 upgrade over Home. Now, it's $150... I think Dell is hosing customers on this.
