Hedge Funds

Quote from Rearden Metal:

FXsKalpEr, my fellow Chaotic-Neutral provocateur, I see you're up against a sea of opponents. You're a highly skilled entertainer, and I have to encourage you to keep on posting. As someone who's able to make even my morbid ass laugh out loud, that makes you a most highly valued member of ET.

(That doesn't mean I'll let you manage my money. :D )
whaht et es, muh niggah? :D

Re: The NY Metro Article:
The hedge fund managers profiled don't represent the way the vast majority of managers comport themselves vis-a-vis , ostentatious spending habits, impulsive high risk trading behavior for the sake of bravado, intoxicated with power etc.
I used work at a few of the large funds before co-managing a midsize fund. My wife now works for a $6 billion global long/ short fund considered by those in the business to be amongst the best. The founder there earns what one would expect of the top echelon hedge fund managers. He lives in a house a few blocks from ours. We live in a home well below our means, which puts his house at an infinitesimal fraction of his means. I believe that as far as the press is concerned, it's the squeaky wheels that get the grease. It's been my experience that most hedge fund managers are generally understated in the way they live their personal lives.
