The fraction of a second of pain could have been a little longer if he landed feet first as opposed to head first.

There are no advocates here for him , or anyone, being force fed. The primary objection was to his jumping not to his ending it.

with regards to trauma of seeing someone killed:

When I was in second grade my teacher sent me and another boy out to pick wild flowers. While we were out we saw a man stall his car on the
rail road tracks and was subsequently hit by a train. Afterwards, we saw
some body parts on the tracks. I had beef stew for lunch but couldn't
eat a bite of it. It very traumatizing but it taught me to be very careful
around the railroad tracks.

A couple of years later, I actually found a man who had just shot himself in the heart. I will never forget the look on his face.

I've heard some lower middle class people here say "we should remove the homeless people from the street so seeing them won't traumatize the children".
If seeing someone kill themselves traumatizes you so much then your life has been too sheltered and you need a reality check.
As if all you're worried about in your last seconds is how it'll look...
