Hedge Fund Millionaire Robert Wilson Has Died After Reported Suicide

RIP! I've met the guy a couple times at EDF and WCS charity dinners. He was a real deal, I kinda wish I'd be like him when I "grow up".

Anyone who donates fortune to wildlife conservancy gets my respect. How he did it, deserves anyone's respect. RIP.

No, murder is a sin, in most countries. But anyway, he lived a long, successful and altruistic life, what 99.9% of users here most likely won't do, so he should be our idol....

P.S.: People always forget that there is a SLIGHT difference between offing yourself at age 25 and 85. Idiots always bring up Livermore, when he was already 63 when he checked out, after a hugely successful and rich life what again, 99.9% of posters here can just dream of. (not to mention the depression issue)

I think another factor to his end was the fact that he had no kids.

While clearly an outstanding individual, his late life likely had little meaning for anyone outside of his intimate circle. And that circle was probably very small.

I'd hate to be in poor health and utterly alone if I ever made it to 88. And if I had, I'd do the same thing while I still could.

I'm not a religous person so the concept of sin (as opposed to morals and/or ethics) is not germaine to my life. That said I don't think you can really talk about sin in terms of countries or law; it is a religous concept not a legal one.

Murder is a crime in most countries but, except for countries that have state religions, I don't think the state defines it as a sin.

We are getting offtopic here, and I think we actually agree...

I assume you are talking about suicide and not murder. There are 2 kind of
rules here (to live by), laws of the land and morals of your upbringing/religion. They are not the same, obviously. There is really nothing to judge by a 85 years old at the end of his life. Personally, your life is yours so you do with it what you like...

I hate religious people who are trying to push their moral standards on others as the poster did a few posts above...

But anyway, he had a long and fulfilling life....

I think he could have done a better job on his end of life planning.

This option left behind a mess for someone else to clean up and probably a traumatic experience for some person walking down the street.

Yeah exactly. I never understand this. Why not just OD on a bottle of sleeping pills. Is it really necessary to paint the sidewalk? Same thing for these people who jump in front of trains. Why traumatize so many people just to end your life.
