Quote from WestCoastTrader:
the reason I asked about prop trading firms being an issue, was b/c quite a few job listing for hedge funds in new york specifically state no prop traders need apply.
Just wanted to know if anybody encountered any problems in the industry.

WestCoastTrader;
Might be several things;
there are some exceptions but generally the best % gains may have some drawdowns larger than some want.
Interesting Michael Masters didnt give out his home address or Paul Tudor Jones didnt draw out a map of his hotspot duck hunt property for us.
Actually those NY & perhaps those Texas Hedge funds are right.
Prop traders, Paul Tudor Jones,Michael Masters. as skilled as they are in trading;
probably would NOT make good employees at hedge funds.
WestcoastTrader, that ad sounds like a ''blessing in disguise'';
Paul Tudor Jones & Michael Masters are Managers of hedge funds.
Can't tell much about hedge fund employee trading;
but apply part of Jack Schwager /Paul Tudor Jones/Michael Masters plan -have a written plan & dont overtrade.
Like the employee requirement that an elitetrader/headhunter wrote for an'' institutional sales trader''- read ''section c of the Wall Street Journal''
