Heat goes on: Earth headed for warmest year on record

Quote from article IN GWB's post.

A potentially game-changing breakthrough in artificial photosynthesis has been achieved with the development of a system that can capture carbon dioxide emissions before they are vented into the atmosphere and then, powered by solar energy, convert that carbon dioxide into valuable chemical products, including biodegradable plastics, pharmaceutical drugs and even liquid fuels.

It's kind of obvious that we don't have enough data, enough history, to know much of anything about climate variability. Any scientists that can't see that are idiots, and a person can be very highly educated with wonderful reasoning capacities and be idiotic. Most of science is based on unproven assumptions, including the science on the age of the earth and climate variability. If Those assumptions are examined and others substituted it is easy to show that other scenarios are entirely valid. Scientists in the American university system are sometimes candid about how one cannot go against the established krap. I knew a guy that debunked archaeological sites and even though his work was good his career was irretrievably in the crapper. I'm coming to realize that it's about the introvert personalities that are drawn to science and medicine in particular. They really think that their work, their ideas are way better than others. HR department science has shown that in companies where employees rate each other the introverts give very low ratings to everybody but themselves. They are called "silent but deadly" in one article I found. http://amj.aom.org/content/early/2014/11/20/amj.2011.0214.abstract I've had strange run ins with doctors because I heal myself. I went to one, he had been giving me pain shots for shoulder bursitis. He asks "how's the shoulder?" [He wants to sell me a shot]. I tell him how I healed it with a supplement. [Hyaluronic Acid]. He knows that his shitty Big Pharma selection of treatments has no cure but he's not at all interested in my cure, I thought that strange at the time. He mumbles "if you cured it with a supplement then it wasn't diagnosed" or some incomplete thing like that... That moment really stuck in my mind, it wan't explicable in my value system. Now I get it, introverts are exactly like that, in fact, who the fuck in their right mind would go through all the shit they put med students through? Weird ass introverts, that's who! It's medieval what they do and in the end 99% of them are technicians that speak Latin, prescribe meds to people without regard to what the other weird ass doctors are simultaneously prescribing, never, ever mentioning any supplements or anything that works but isn't from their school, etc. I wouldn't even work in a field that was that dysfunctional. So scientists are cut from that same mold, whatever they have learned is the shit and new stuff is not, especially if it doesn't come from agreeable introverts. Generations have to die before things change. Politicians don't give a rats ass about the truth, they speak $ so GW believers of the world: you have nothing to worry about, you can ramble on about GW at will for a long time.

And we should give your opinion equal weight to these guys?

American Physical Society
"The evidence is incontrovertible: Global warming is occurring. If no mitigating actions are taken, significant disruptions in the Earth’s physical and ecological systems, social systems, security and human health are likely to occur. We must reduce emissions of greenhouse gases beginning now."

Well I don't like the idea of more cooling... but perhaps it will somehow change the pattern which is drought here in California.

I am concerned our politicans are going to mis manage this state into a disaster for 30 to 40 million people. We need help from nature because or legislature is so corrupt.

as was reported on ET I believe, our almond growers get 3 times more water than Los Angeles. it was alleged they give millions to the the politicans to keep the water turned on.

Which produces more CO2, volcanic or human activity?

Gas studies at volcanoes worldwide have helped volcanologists tally up a global volcanic CO2 budget in the same way that nations around the globe have cooperated to determine how much CO2 is released by human activity through the burning of fossil fuels. Our studies show that globally, volcanoes on land and under the sea release a total of about 200 million tonnes of CO2 annually.

This seems like a huge amount of CO2, but a visit to the U.S. Department of Energy's Carbon Dioxide Information Analysis Center (CDIAC) website (http://cdiac.ornl.gov/) helps anyone armed with a handheld calculator and a high school chemistry text put the volcanic CO2 tally into perspective. Because while 200 million tonnes of CO2 is large, the global fossil fuel CO2 emissions for 2003 tipped the scales at 26.8 billion tonnes. Thus, not only does volcanic CO2 not dwarf that of human activity, it actually comprises less than 1 percent of that value.

what a specious point being made by convictbullies

Man made co2 is only a tiny fraction of total the natural emissions.

so on one hand agw nutters are arguing a small amount of human co2 tips the balance and gets amplified into a disaster...but nature adding more co2 means what?

besides the significance of volcanic activity is that most attribute eruptions to cooling.

CO2 is a greenhouse gas. We have raised it's[sic] levels by 40%. It does cause warming. What's under debate is how much warming it causes.

This much plus about 11% more for the land and air. But CO2 is not the only greenhouse gas.

It is estimated that the increased heat gained from the increased GHGs is equal to about 4 Hiroshima bombs per second exploding in the atmosphere. Perhaps 3 of the 4 is due to CO2.

When the scientists start using "Hiroshima bombs" as a unit of measurement, they've drifted out of science and into politics.

Of course the sunshine contains energy and it shines all over the earth. So let's put this number in perspective.

How many Hiroshima bombs does the sun send to the earth per second?

Any physicist can look up the number in a few minutes. The fact that it's not quoted along with the estimate of warming is proof that they're not trying to educate. They're trying to influence elections for their watermelon buddies.

Too bad it's failing. The public is less interested in global warming than it's been for a fairly long time. I see the younger (college age) generation all the time. They've had this crap preached to them all their lives. The result is that few of them believe much of it and even fewer modify their behavior according to the desired effect.

Back in the glory days of the Soviet Union, the whole population eastern Europe and Russia was forced to listen to Communist propaganda essentially constantly. The result, as usual, was that very few of them believed it.
