Heads Up - MSFT earnings Thursday

About 99% statistics - it is my own data taken from the air (I was sarcastic) - 1% of Windows 10 lowers I leave for those ho work for MSFT. Even those who work for them (those who I know) are agree that raw unfinished version was released on July 29th of 2015. Taking into account the bugs, frequent updates, constant fixes, crashes, incompatibility, pretty much who uses must be already annoyed by it. It is going to be better and it is already not as bad as it was 8 months ago and with time it will be a good system, but so far, there are still has a lot to fix.

I repeat that my post was sarcastic, because I did not believe that today's earnings will push the MSFT up. That was my main point. Ironically it looks like MSFT is down 5% in after trading hours.

Why I did not believe? Because over past couple of days all the news were bragging about Google, Microsoft and Starbucks earning release. They were so havy positive that it became so suspicious. Over the past 15 years on the Market, from my personal observation, when you have something extremely pushing in the media be prepared to have completely opposite reaction on the market. I do not trust media and I know that it could be bought.

Maybe tomorrow MSFT will recover from today's aftermarket close losses but as of now I have another confirmation of the media's power.

GOOGL did even worst after hour.

Trade:
With MSFT at 51.73

Yield = 40/460 = 8,65% in 176 days or 18% annualized
Prob = NA

Price................ Profit / Loss.......... ROM %
27.75.................... (460.00)............ -91.31%
34.83.................... (460.00)............ -91.31%
37.00.................... (460.00)............ -91.31%
41.60......................... 0.00................ 0.00%
42.00....................... 40.00................ 8.69%
42.29....................... 40.00................ 8.69%
49.75....................... 40.00................ 8.69%
57.21....................... 40.00................ 8.69%
64.66....................... 40.00................ 8.69%

Filled immediately at the $40... there's a lot of put activity this AM.

The prob charts are obviously of little use here but if I would use them I would get 87%

Ordinarily I don't trade MSFT because, like some other stocks I don't trade (IBM) the media and all the amateurs and general bullshit is too heavy. But I just couldn't resist this trade. I may actually dump it at breakeven so I'm not carrying it around my neck until October.

  • MSFT earnings Thursday April 21 - after the bell.
  • MSFT at $55.59.
  • The 2% OTM (56.50) weekly calls are only $0.82.
  • Buying the 56.50 or 57.00 weekly calls would be a good way to play these earnings.
  • DOW at an all time high.
  • Nasdaq below all time high.

Will MSFT help push the Nasdaq back to 5200 from 4950?

  • GOOGL also has earnings Thursday April 21 - after the bell.
  • Also consider buying the QQQ OTM weekly calls for that cheap 1-day play.

Bad News: The outcome wasn't what I expected.
Good News: This is a buying opportunity for GOOGL, MSFT, QQQ.

The fact that these stocks gave up so easily so much could be a sign that current strong recovery maybe is not a healthy recovery and these stocks could be on thin ice. Again, depends on what term to buy.

Minus 5% and 7% during earnings is just another typical day on the market. The DOW squeaked out positive today.

I believe the trend is still up.
