"He Never Went In": Officer On Duty Filmed "Doing Nothing" During Florida Shooting

There is legitimate criticism of the sherif and his deputies to be sure but let’s all be careful that a public lynching doesn’t circumvent the need for serious reforms.

There are cowards on every force but this is a good example to show the slogan “the only way to stop a good guy with a gun is a bad guy with a gun” is a fallacy the NRA perpetuates to duck responsibility for loose firearm laws.

It's not a fallacy, as evidenced by a perfect example today with a carjacker in MN.

In fairness to those piling on to him, he started using his platform to immediately take a very, very high profile and vocal opposition to some of the reforms being proposed- ie. arming teachers, more security officers at schools etc. And that is fine, but if he wants to wade into he ran the risk of escalating how effective law enforcement is and has been. Fine, go for it. He could have taken the approach of laying low and "following the process." So, I don't call that a lynching. Lefties are well advised too to not start publicly lynching anyone who may have exposed as having used their NRA discount at the Holiday Inn. That dog don't hunt either.

Well if you want to throw him out for being against AR 15s that’s ok, or if you want to throw him out for the colossal failure of his deputies, that’s ok too, but let’s not mix the review of the sheriffs performance and his deputies with the need to look at some of this other stuff with guns.

(I know this is a terribly constructed sentence but I am not fixing it.)

In the land of the brainwashed, the non brainwashed man seems illogical. “Finish your breakfast.”

I see. If we had your "clarity" we would be defending Sheriff Do-Nothing right along with you.

I wonder how that plays with the parents in Florida.

Now I’m defending the sheriff. Ok. Dragging the sheriff through the street, whether just or unjust, is not a substitute for reforming laws around guns.

This issue runs in cycles. We have an incident of extreme carnage, people, including republicans, say we have to stop these massacres from happening, the nra and republicans in congress delay, thoughts and prayers, then obfuscation like with the sheriff, and the incident fades from memory and gets folded into the dozens of other mass shooting. Rinse, wash, repeat.

It’s shameful.
