He bet his family’s entire life savings and mortgaged his home

I posted an article about Ethereum, a cryptocurrency, on the cryptocurrencies forum of Elite Trader and all I got are responses from crypto-haters. Very interesting... :D

Cryptocurrencies, especially bitcoin, are just another form of a speculative, tradeable, digital, investment asset. There's a market for it, just like there's a market for penny stocks, junk bonds, options, negative-yielding government bonds, etc.

Heck, CME trades futures on bitcoin and ICE (Bakkt) futures volume keeps increasing.

There's a lot of money to be made investing in bitcoin (cryptos). Imo, trading cryptos is much harder, but ymmv. Bitcoin has had several parabolic bull and bear markets since inception 11 years ago.

It is not a question of hating or loving Bitcoin/ Crypto
-The issue is the "Lovers" of BTC/ CRyto dismiss the many concerns sane investors are raising
such as regulations/ safety/ skulduggery in ICOs etc
and is it really a store of value? and it's current use in the life's supply chain
- it is a great instrument for trading at the moment, I agree with you becasue of it's volatility if one can handle it.
- The fact CME has futures does not mean the underlying issues raised above go away, and mind you on CME you only trade a cash settled derivative so security of the coins itself goes away.
For a exchange like CME the motive is just add another "instrument" to trade, if tomorrow there is enough liquidity on "annual count of Lions in Africa" they would make Futures market on it ... they won;t care as long as there is liquidity.

So to be fair instead of just arguing about coiners/ lovers/ non coiners haters lets look at the actual facts

Bitcoin futures on ICE (Bakkt) are not cash-settled. Bitcoin/cryptos are good for speculation/trading due to volatility
