EDIT: never mind I just checked and realized they started them with 1 million not 100k this year. So the results are not as outrageous as it appeared at first glance...
Last year the Olympiad was set to start with $100K BUT due to an IB mistake, the accounts were started with 1 Million. The contest was canceled after a day or so and re-started the next Monday with $100,000 in the accounts.
The final results were based on the $100K equity start.
