It was just a couple weeks ago, I hopped out of my car and forgot to put it in park while I went into the store. My daughter was in the passenger seat and together they rolled into a snow bank (only a few feet).
Breathlessly she expalined what I had done and what she had done....panic.
Ever my calm collected self I said
"If this had been an actual emergency.....you likely would have heard official information, news or instructions."
Don't worry? But now she does and checks the indicator when I hop out. "Duh, Dad, did you put it in park?"
