What's the thought process that a man thinks he can just go up to women and rub up on them ,what the hell are they thinking at that very moment ,it boggles my mind.

Mark Halperin, the NBC and MSNBC analyst who co-authored the bestselling 2008 election postmortem "Game Change," apologized late Wednesday after five women accused him of sexual harassment, CNN reported.

The powerful journalist's alleged behavior occured while he was at ABC News, according to CNN, which said the five women's complaints were corroborated by others who did not personally experience the harassment.

Halperin allegedly grabbed a woman's breasts without consent and pressed his clothed, erect penis against three of his coworkers. The "Morning Joe" regular denied those allegations, according to CNN, but did not specifically deny the women's accusation that he had propositioned them for sex.

Halperin admited to CNN Wednesday night that his conduct was inappropriate, and he said he would take time away from his role as a senior political analyst at NBC and MSNBC.

"During this period, I did pursue relationships with women that I worked with, including some junior to me," Halperin told CNN. "I now understand from these accounts that my behavior was inappropriate and caused others pain. For that, I am deeply sorry and I apologize. Under the circumstances, I'm going to take a step back from my day-to-day work while I properly deal with this situation."

CNN senior correspondent Clarissa Ward said on Thursday that Mark Halperin’s alleged sexual harassment was an “open secret” at ABC News “for years.”

Ward — who was an international correspondent for ABC News from 2007 to 2010 — took to Twitter to respond to the CNN report that spoke with five women who accused the now NBC News analyst of sexual harassment while he was at the news network:

Halperin is accused of harassing a number of ABC News employees when he was the network’s political director in the 1990s. His behavior ranged from “propositioning employees for sex” to “kissing and grabbing one’s breasts against her will.” Three of the women accused him of “pressing an erection against their bodies while he was clothed.”

A statement issued Thursday morning by MSNBC and NBC said Halperin “is leaving his role as a contributor until the questions around his past conduct are fully understood.”

Ward’s remark that Halperin’s conduct was an “open secret” at ABC News comes after news of Harvey Weinstein’s decades of sexual assault and harassment rocked the entertainment world. His behavior was also described by many inside Hollywood as an “open secret.”

UPDATE 1:11 p.m. EST: Ward again took to Twitter on Thursday to fire back at those who have been criticizing her for not calling out Halperin’s conduct earlier. In doing so, she provided some much needed perspective:

Ronan Farrow isn’t done with Harvey Weinstein.

We’re told that Farrow’s making calls to potential sources for another New Yorker article to follow his blockbuster exposé on sexual harassment claims against the movie mogul.

“[Ronan] is hot right now and he wants to capitalize on the momentum of the first article. He seems impatient to get another piece out ASAP,” a source told us. “He’s speaking to former Weinstein employees and telling them he’s on ‘a tight deadline.’ ”

The insider said the piece may focus on the movie company’s culture, which allowed Weinstein to prey on women for years.

The New Yorker had no comment.
