Harvard Study: No Correlation Between Gun Control And Less Violent Crime

Most likely they chose to compare european countries against each other because they would all have somewhat similar ethnic backgrounds, you could just as easily compare majority white populations, against majority asian populations, against majority black populations to find out who is responsible for most of the violent crime but that wasnt the intent of the study. For example, China's murder rate is very similar to Japan's. Just as most african countries are at the top of the list for murder rates, followed by south american countries.

Also i find it laughable that you believe a far left libtard from harvard would actually be trying to cook the books in favour of the pro gun side.

"The murder rate in Russia, where handguns are banned, is 30.6; the rate in the U.S. is 7.8.

Since Russia has strict gun laws, it seems that less guns equals more murder.

Isn't that what you see?


Now let's simply pick another country to compare with besides Russia.

Let's look at Japan's murder rate, shall we?

For those who are ignorant, Japan has strict bans on firearms with only very few exceptions. They are quite successful in enforcing their laws too.

IOW- Very hard to get gun in Japan.

Just compare their murder rate with the U.S.

Japans murder rate:0.4

U.S. murder rate: 7.8

Now it looks like less guns equals less murder, don't it?

It seems that strictly enforcing anti-gun laws can really make a difference don't it?

It's conceivable that whoever put this study together, simply drew their conclusions out of pure ignorance, not even realizing that they stopped way short of any kind of real research.

Their mistake was by stating their "conclusions", while they were still about 99 yards out of the end zone.

Whether its deception is purposeful or not, I can't say, but I can say for certain it's conclusions are BS, and misleading.

Nobody appears to want to mention that over 50% of the murders in the U.S. occur in cities that have strict gun control laws (D.C., New York, Chicago, etc.). These cities represent 5% of the population.

If you eliminate these cities when performing a crime comparison to the EU then the countries in Europe have a higher violent crime rate then the 95% of the U.S. population living in areas without strict gun control laws.

Hospital staff errors is probably the source for that number. I read somewhere else it was closer 300,000.
 
Mixing meds and alcohol is killing a lot more people than guns ever did. People forget how many meds they take and od on them also, they die without the alcohol even.

All the anti-gun assholes grew up in cities where criminals had guns, they think that disarming the populace will disarm criminals, LOL.

There is lots of short-circuited thinking going on in all fields of thought. People seem to prefer it because it can be expressed in short slogans that are easy to remember and repeat. Usually the slogans give the sayer the moral high ground, never mind that their ideas will greatly harm the culture, they just want the moral high ground and they don't like being bothered with the facts.

Class structure is the stronger variable. You can look at our own murder rate and gini coefficient by year and see the relationship. This relationship has disconnected recently thanks to heightened enforcement and incarceration--the rise of the police state.
