I mean what I am baffled about is how can she just get THREE years for defrauding $23 million by producing fake account statements basically the same thing as Madoff did and yet she only gets THREE years just because she's pregnant?!! and remorseful??!! I mean I am sure Madoff was remorseful too and he got 150 years. To me a three-year sentence is more fitting for a fraud that involved $23,000 but $23 million??!!
Yes it would be fair. If my mother did the crime, she needs to do the crime regardless whether I am a child or not. Unless you have zero relations or friends on this earth, somebody will get hurt and/or affected when you go to jail. Does that mean that nobody can go to jail now just because one of their innocent loved ones will get hurt? She wants the child to suffer less? Make all the best arrangements for the child before she goes to jail. Or better yet, next time, DON'T DO THE CRIME!!!
She got a lighter sentence because that judge was out to lunch that's why. LOL
The Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC) trustee estimated actual losses to investors of $18 billion in Madoff case.
So he got 150 years, divided by 18000 million, that is 120 million for a year. This woman lost about 20 millions (19.5) and get 3 years, actually it is more severe punishment. If do it proportionally she only needs to do the service 2 months. Of course 2 months would be a joke as she lost so much other people money.
and then resorted to Ponzi schemes to pay back earlier investors from newer investors' money.

She was supposed to face up 20 years in prison for her crime? Guess how many years she got? THREE years!!

And she didn't even have a lawyer of her own. She was defended by a public defender who recommended no prison sentence for her because she was pregnant. LOL Somebody was actually f***ing her while she was defrauding other people of their hard-earned savings. That public defender is a genius! If a woman can get off with a lighter sentence just because she's pregnant, a man should be able to have a reduced sentence for knocking somebody up. Damn it, Madoff must be kicking himself for insisting on using his own lawyers and not public defenders and not getting laid enough.
Er, not sure this is how it works...The Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC) trustee estimated actual losses to investors of $18 billion in Madoff case.

People are missing the point, she got a light sentence because there is a person that would be harmed unjustly if she were to be put away for an extended period, how about I send your mother to prison when you're an infant? is that fair to you? yes she wronged a few rich folks, but why commit a crime against an innocent child?
But there graduates are supposed to be the elite members of the American think tanks and leadership....sign of the times.....maybe the lower caste members might be able to do better at least some of them are honest.Great publicity for Harvard and forex trading though although losing in futures is totally her own. I mean she graduated with a degree in psychology. She must've gotten really good grades considering how successfully she convinced people to fork over $23 million to her but trading? Obviously not so much... She should've pursued a career in psychology or psychiatry instead. Lots of psychos out there for her to treat and she would've been lot more successful too.
Oh well...
