Smoking sections, although better than none, don't really work. That smoke permeates the entire building.
I used to advocate hanging a smoker a week in the town square when they had their own AA rights.
They would always want to smoke in your house, smoke in your car, smoke at your work place, smoke at your table while you are still finishing your meal. Then there are the ash trays. That's like setting a pile of dog crap on the table and saying, you don't mind, do you?
That's irrelevant, and having eaten my share of c-rats I can see why they were attractive to him. shit when I was out in the field I just ate the coffee packet when it was my turn to be on night guard( who the hell had hot water anyway) and nobody was shooting at me.
Of course now lighting up a cig in combat is probably a pretty stupid thing to do. I was once told by a Captain"The human eye can perceive 1 photon of light, that's equivalent to 1 cigarette 3 miles out"
